Sichuan Media University was founded in 1997. Its main campus is located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. It was formerly the School of Radio, Film and Television of Chengdu University of Technology. It started to offer general undergraduate education in 2001. In 2013, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be converted into an independent comprehensive private general undergraduate university.
