History: In 1998, a campus was established in Kotu-Kanifen. In March 1999, the University of the Gambia began offering courses in accordance with a law passed by the National Assembly of the Gambia. In 1999, the school enrolled 300 students, in 2002, the number of faculty and staff was 44, and in 2006, the number of students enrolled was close to 2,000.
