Kanazawa University (Kanazawa University, Japanese: 金沢大學, abbreviated as: 金大/KU) is a national university located in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, founded in 1949. Its history can be traced back to the smallpox vaccination center established by the Kaga Domain in 1862. Kanazawa University is one of the third oldest universities in Japan and one of the main higher education institutions in the Hokuriku region.
