Introduction

Kharkiv National Medical University is located in Kharkiv, Ukraine. It is one of the oldest medical higher education institutions in Ukraine. The school was founded in 1805 In 1915, it was the medical department of the Kharkiv Imperial University (now Kharkiv National University), and was approved by a decree signed by Russian Tsar Alexander I. In 1920, the medical department was separated from Kharkiv National University to form Kharkiv Medical College; in 1921, it was renamed Kharkiv National Medical College; in 1994, it became Kharkiv National Medical University; in 2007, it obtained the highest level 4 credit rating for Ukrainian universities and continued to use the current name.
