Introduction
Kharkiv National University of Economics is the largest economic higher education and research institution in eastern Ukraine. It is famous for training professionals in many fields such as economics, management, computer science, etc. Its education and scientific research level has a certain influence both in Ukraine and internationally.
Overview
Student size: In 2011, the school had more than 12,000 students, including undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral students.
Faculty and staff: The school has 714 academic staff, including 9 national academicians, 51 tenured senior professors and 438 doctoral teachers.
History and establishment time
The history of the school can be traced back to 1888, when the businessman and business consultant Nikolay Orlov proposed to create a special economic education institution. In 1893, the Kharkiv Merchants Association established and opened a business school named after Alexander III. On October 24, 1912, the school opened higher courses in commercial evening classes, and in 1916 it obtained the status and rights of a government higher education institution and became the Kharkiv Business School. In 1921, the school was initially transformed into the Kharkiv National Economic Institute, and in 1930, it was divided into relatively small branch colleges, among which the industrial department became the Kharkiv Engineering Economics Institute, and October 1, 1930 was determined as the official founding date of the school. In 1994, the school received the highest government level 4 accreditation and was transformed into the Kharkiv National University of Economics. On August 21, 2004, it was awarded the status of a national university and named after Nobel Prize winner Simon Kuznets on October 14, 2013.

For example, in the 1950s, the research laboratory organized and directed by Professor Yevsei Lieberman, whose research results became one of the foundations of the Soviet economic reform in 1965.
