Introduction

Founded in 1946, Lviv State University of Physical Culture is the highest institution of physical education in Ukraine, playing an important leading role in physical education, scientific research and culture.

History

On May 7, 1946, according to the order of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, the Lviv State Institute of Physical Education was established on the basis of the existing sports school in Lviv and the sports facilities of the Lviv Spartak Sports Association. In 1981, the school celebrated its 35th anniversary as one of the leading sports education institutions in Ukraine. After Ukraine's independence in 1991, the school ushered in new development opportunities and carried out a series of structural reorganizations and reforms. In 2006, the college was reorganized into a university and adopted its current name.

Faculty: 1 academician of the Academy of Sciences, 11 professors with postdoctoral degrees and 74 doctors, 12 national meritorious coaches, and 8 former world champions teach at the school.

Teaching Facilities: There are 17 teaching and research departments, including physical education, sports training, professional sports, sports management, sports news and media, sports economy, sports market management, etc. It also has a scientific research center, a computer technology and information, education and training guarantee center.

Scientific Research Achievements: As the top university in Ukraine in sports research, the school has carried out in-depth scientific research in the fields of sports education, sports training, sports rehabilitation, etc., providing important theoretical support and practical experience for the development of Ukraine's sports industry, and has trained 32 World champions.
