Introduction to Sumy State University

Sumy State University is a famous higher education institution in Ukraine. It was founded in 1948 and is located in Sumy, northeastern Ukraine. The city is the industrial, cultural, educational and scientific research center of Ukraine.

Overview

Student size: There are about 10,000 students, including more than 200 international students from different countries.

Teachers: There are 2,270 faculty and staff, including 50 doctors and professors, and 330 associate doctors and associate professors.

History

The school was founded in 1948. Since its establishment, more than 400 students from Guinea, Egypt, India and many other countries have studied in the International Students Department. The school has been growing and improving in the process of development, and has gradually become one of the leading universities in Ukraine.

School Strength

Faculty: The faculty is large and professional. Many teachers have profound attainments and rich teaching experience in their professional fields. For example, teachers in the Department of Engineering, Department of Technical Physics, Department of Mechanical Mathematics, etc. have performed well in scientific research and teaching in related disciplines, providing students with high-quality education and teaching.

Teaching Achievements: Students trained by the school are in a leading position in student competitions among top universities in the country. In 2006, they won 18 academic competition awards. Its graduates play an important role in different fields in Ukraine, the CIS and many countries in the world.

International Cooperation: It has cooperative relations with 18 foreign universities, participates in the activities of 10 international education and scientific organizations, and is a member of the International Association of Universities (IAU), the European Association of International Education (EAIE), the World Federation of Ecological Economy and the International Engineering Association, and has student exchanges and scientific research cooperation projects with universities in Germany, the United States and other countries.

Key laboratories and disciplines

Key disciplines: Engineering, technical physics, mechanical mathematics, economics, medicine and other disciplines are the key disciplines of the school. Among them, the majors of agricultural machinery manufacturing and tool manufacturing in the Department of Engineering, automation and management, electronic instruments and equipment in the Department of Technical Physics have achieved remarkable results in teaching and scientific research. The finance and business economics of the economics major, as well as the popular medicine major of the medical department, also have strong faculty and teaching resources, providing students with high-quality professional education.

Campus facilities: It has 21 teaching buildings, 13 dormitories with nearly 3500 beds, as well as sports facilities, swimming pools, stadiums, skiing and rowing bases, Internet cafes, canteens, bars and other complete infrastructure. In addition, the school also has teaching and research venues such as the Anatomy Museum, which provides convenient conditions for students' study and life.
