Introduction
West Ukrainian National University is a national higher education institution directly under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. It is also a famous fourth-level university (the highest level) in Ukraine and one of the top ten higher education centers in Ukraine. It is located in Ternopil, a student city in the center of western Ukraine. It is the alma mater of former Ukrainian President Yushchenko and has trained many Ukrainian elites, famous politicians, senior managers and scientists.

History and Establishment
The school was founded in 1966 as the Ternopil Branch of the Department of Finance and Economics of the Kyiv Academy of National Economy. In 1967, the branch was transformed into an independent academy. In 1971, it became the Ternopil Academy of Finance and Economics. In 1989, it was renamed the Ternopil Academy of National Economy. In 1994, it became the Ternopil Academy of National Economy. On March 30, 2005, it became a university and on September 29, 2006, it was granted the status of "national" by presidential decree. On August 25, 2020, by order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ternopil University of National Economy was renamed the National University of West Ukraine and obtained the status of "classical".
