Introduction

Founded in 1965, Hannover Medical School is a world-leading medical center and regional medical center. It is also one of the only two famous independent medical schools in Germany. It has made remarkable achievements in scientific research, medical care and teaching. Its medical specialty ranks third in Germany, second only to Heidelberg University and Munich University.

History and establishment time

The establishment of Hannover Medical School dates back to June 1961, when the National Science Committee recommended the establishment of 7 new medical schools in the Federal Republic of Germany to increase the number of medical students in the country. Within a few months, the Lower Saxony State Parliament decided to establish a state medical school and established the Hannover Medical School Committee in December 1961. In February 1962, the committee decided to locate the school in Hannover. In 1963, the Lower Saxony State Government announced the establishment of Hannover Medical School. In 1965, the administrative and teaching structure of the Hannover Medical School was basically established, the campus was built, and the founding ceremony was held at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover on May 17.
