Introduction

The University of Trnava is a modern and attractive educational and scientific research institution located in Trnava, Slovakia, with a long historical tradition, dating back to the universitas tyrnaviensis founded in 1635, which is one of the oldest higher education institutions in Slovakia.

The history of the university can be traced back to 1635, when it was founded by Archbishop Peter Pazmany of Esztergom, with the Academy of Arts, the School of Theology, the School of Law (since 1667) and the School of Medicine (since 1769). In 1777, the university moved to Buda and finally to Pest in 1784. Its legal successor is Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary. In 1992, the University of Trenva was re-established at the original site.
