History
In 1994, after the closure of the Central African Adventist University due to the Rwandan Civil War, the Congo Adventist Mission established a theological college project in partnership with Griggs University.
On June 6, 1995, at the mid-year meeting of the African Indian Ocean Division held in Douala, a proposal to open an Adventist university in Lukanga was voted in. On November 14, the school board and the first president, Dr. Robert Pearson, were confirmed at the annual meeting of the branch in Abidjan.
In 1996, the Ministry of Higher Education of the Democratic Republic of Congo approved the establishment of Lukanga Adventist University, allowing it to offer degree courses in theology, business administration, literature and education.
In 2001, the school opened a public health department. In September 2012, it began to offer nursing and agriculture courses.
On April 7, 2005, it was accredited by the General Assembly of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
