Introduction: Mekelle University is located in Mekelle, the capital of Tigray State in northern Ethiopia. It is one of the largest public universities in the country, offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs and has a certain international reputation in teaching and research.

In May 2000, the Ethiopian government merged Mekelle Business School and Mekelle University College to officially establish Mekelle University.
