History

Established in 1965 as an Agricultural Training College, providing diploma training in the field of agriculture.

In 1970, with the dissolution of the University of East Africa and the establishment of the University of Dar es Salaam, the college was transformed into the College of Agriculture of the University of Dar es Salaam and began to offer a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.

In 1974, the Department of Forestry was established and the college was renamed the College of Agriculture and Forestry.

In 1976, the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine was introduced, the Department of Veterinary Medicine was established, and the college was renamed the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine again.

In 1984, it became an independent Sukoin University of Agriculture through an act of parliament, with a College of Agriculture, a College of Forestry and a College of Veterinary Medicine.
