Introduction

The Presbyterian University College is a religious institution of higher learning in Ghana, committed to providing high-quality education and cultivating well-rounded talents.

 

History and Establishment

 

Established on November 23, 2003 by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, and inaugurated on March 27, 2004 by former President of Ghana John Agyekum Kufuor.

 

Historical Background: In 1843, the Presbyterian Church of Ghana established the first primary school in the country, initiating the institutionalization of formal education. In 1848, the Basel Missionary Theological Seminary was established in Akropong, later known as the Presbyterian Training College, which was the second higher education institution in West Africa after Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone. In 1996, the Presbyterian Church voted at a meeting to establish a real university, and an implementation committee was established in 1998.
