Introduction
The United Methodist University of Liberia is a private institution of higher learning located in Monrovia, Liberia. It has close ties with the United Methodist Church of Liberia and is accredited by the National Higher Education Commission of the Liberian Government to award bachelor's and master's degrees.

History
In the 1970s, the United Methodist Church of Liberia began to explore the establishment of a university, and in 1980, college business courses were added to the West African College.
In 1986, an exploratory committee was established to study the expansion of the school into a full university.
Plans were advanced to build the school in 1990, but the First Liberian Civil War delayed the creation of the school, and the goal was reaffirmed in 1997.
On October 9, 1998, the Liberian Legislature chartered the United Methodist University, which officially opened in 2000 under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Emanuel F. Bailey.
In April 2011, the school established a partnership with Starz Technical College, but the project was terminated in March 2012 due to the requirements of the National Higher Education Commission.
In December 2012, the school announced plans to open a radio station to provide practical training for students in the Department of Mass Communication.

Faculty: Although there is no detailed faculty data, the school has a group of experienced teachers, and cooperation with many American universities also helps to improve the level of teachers and teaching resources.
