Introduction

The National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy is an influential research university in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. Its history can be traced back to 1615. It is one of the thirteen educational institutions in Ukraine that have the status of a research autonomous university. It uses Ukrainian and English as bilingual teaching and is one of the few universities in Ukraine with internationally recognized diplomas.

History and establishment time

The origin of the school can be traced back to the Kyiv Brethren Monastery, which was founded in 1615. In 1632, it merged with the educational institution of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra in Kyiv and became the first higher education institution in Kyiv. It was named Kyiv-Mohyla Academy after the Metropolitan of Kyiv, Galicia and All Russia, Petro Mohyla.

In 1817, Russian Emperor Alexander I ordered the closure of Mohyla Academy. In 1819 In 1990, its business was transferred to the newly established Kyiv Theological Seminary. With the economic reform policy at the end of the Soviet Union and Ukraine's independence in 1991, Mohyla College was reopened and began teaching in 1992.
