Introduction

Located in Kherson, southern Ukraine, Kherson State University is one of the oldest universities in the region and an important multidisciplinary education, scientific research and cultural center in Ukraine. It has trained a large number of professionals for Ukraine and surrounding areas.

The school was founded in November 1917 during the First World War and was modeled after the evacuated Tartu Teachers College. In 1919, the school was reorganized into the Kherson Teachers College, renamed the Kherson Educational College in the early 1920s, and renamed NK Krupskaya in November 1924. During the Second World War, the school stopped operating from August 1941 to March 1944. In March 1944, the school resumed its education and gradually grew stronger. After several name changes and subject expansions, it was reorganized into Kherson State Normal University in 1998 and renamed Kherson State University in 2002.
