Introduction

Poltava National Pedagogical University V.G. Korolenko is a famous comprehensive normal university in Ukraine. It mainly trains teaching staff for secondary and primary schools. It has a history of more than 100 years and has trained a large number of outstanding teachers for Ukraine and other countries.

History and establishment

The history of the school dates back to July 1914, when a Teachers' College was established in Poltava by royal decree.

In 1918, the college opened the Department of History and Linguistics.

In July 1919, the college was transformed into a Teachers' College.

In 1920, the Poltava Teachers' College had three departments: History and Linguistics, Physics and Mathematics, and Natural Sciences.

In April 1921, the Poltava Teachers' College merged with the Poltava History and Linguistics Department and reorganized into the Poltava Public Education College.

In 1930, the college was transformed into a Social Education College, and in 1933 it became a Teachers' College with departments of Physics and Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Geography, History and Linguistics, and a preschool education department.

In 1936, the Poltava Teachers' College established the Department of Languages ​​and Literature and the Department of Physics and Mathematics.

In December 1949, the college was named after Vladimir Korolenko.

December 9, 1999 On 25 November 2009, according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 448, Poltava State Teachers College was transformed into Poltava State Teachers University.

On 25 November 2009, Poltava State Teachers University was granted the status of a national university by the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko.
