Introduction: Bugema University is a private university in Uganda, affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In 1976, it was authorized by the Uganda Ministry of Education and the General Assembly of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to offer a bachelor's degree program in theology.

In 1994, it was upgraded from a "college" to a "university". In 1997, it obtained a higher education institution license issued by the Ministry of Education and Sports of Uganda.
