Introduction: Bugema University is a private university in Uganda, affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church. It is part of the second largest Christian school system in the world and is committed to providing high-quality education, focusing on the academic, spiritual and personal development of students.

In 1948, it was established as a teacher and pastor training school for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in East Africa, named Bugema Missionary Training School.
It was later renamed Bugema Missionary College and then Bugema Adventist College.
In 1976, it was authorized by the Uganda Ministry of Education and the General Assembly of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to offer a bachelor's degree program in theology.
In 1994, it was upgraded from a "college" to a "university". In 1997, it obtained a higher education institution license issued by the Ministry of Education and Sports of Uganda.
