The Medical University-Pleven is a well-known medical school in Bulgaria, located in the city of Pleven. It is one of the only five medical universities in Bulgaria. The school was established in 1974. Its predecessor was a regional hospital established in 1865. In 1987, it was changed to the People's Health Institute and became an independent higher medical school in 1992. In 1997, the college added English medical courses for international students, which was the first English medical course in Bulgaria.
