The University of Glasgow is a public university located in Glasgow, England. The University of Glasgow is known as one of the "Top 100 Universities in the World" and is a member of the Russell Group, Universitas 21 and the Association of European Research Universities.
The University of Glasgow was founded by William Turnbull in 1451, when only undergraduate liberal arts degrees were available. In 1870, the University of Glasgow left its original site and moved to the west of Gilmoreshire. Then in 1892, Queen Margaret College merged with the University of Glasgow. In 1999, St. Andrew's College of Education merged with the University of Glasgow and established the School of Education. In 2010, the University of Glasgow changed its original nine colleges into four larger departments. In 2024, the University of Glasgow ranked 78th in the QS World University Rankings.
As of June 2024, the University of Glasgow has three campuses, namely Gilmore Hill Campus, Gascube Campus and Dumfries Campus, four faculties, 23 colleges and 131 undergraduate majors. Among the various disciplines, Nursing and Veterinary Biosciences ranked first in the UK in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guides in 2024 respectively. In addition, the University of Glasgow has trained 8 Nobel Prize winners.
