History
The school's history can be traced back to 1972, when the church received a land donation and planned to establish the Arthur Buckley Vocational College.
In February 1979, the Arthur Buckley Technical College opened its first class.
In 1985, Catholic leaders considered the creation of a Catholic college, which eventually led to the establishment of Don Bosco Polytechnic, which included the Arthur Buckley Technical College.
The institution was chartered by the Liberian Legislature on August 15, 1988.
Due to civil unrest in the country, Don Bosco Polytechnic did not begin operations until 1993, when the Mother Patern College of Health Sciences opened.
In November 1997, the school board decided to open a larger institution.
In 2005, Don Bosco Polytechnic was renamed Stella Maris Polytechnic University.
